Renewable Resources Right Here in the USA!
StarchTech manufactures our eco friendly packaging material with the renewable resource of corn starch, most of which comes from the Midwest region of the United States.
Developing products using this readily available resource is a priority for StarchTech to assist in decreasing our dependence on foreign products and insure supply availability.
There are several types of products produced from corn – industrial products, food grade products, and animal feed used to meet both domestic and export demand.
So where does StarchTech fit into this picture? StarchTech’s Mighty I loosefill packing material, made from our ReNew Resin, is made from industrial grade corn starch, which makes up less than 2% of the overall corn production. StarchTech uses over 13,000,000 pounds of corn starch annually, however, with millions of metric tons of corn produced worldwide (now that’s a lot of corn!), our application requires a very small amount.
In fact, demand for corn in 2009-10 is expected to be the second largest on record due, almost exclusively, to government mandated Ethanol production, which makes up over 75% of the industrial demand for corn.
The millions of bushels grown every year are a vital part of the world wide economic marketplace and StarchTech is pleased to access this renewable resource grown right here in the United States.
